One of the largest purpose-built bioreactor landfill projects in the world

One of the largest purpose-built bioreactor landfill projects in the world filling an abandoned open cut mine with putrescible waste diverted from NSW landfill facilities. The bioreactor generates power by harnessing the methane gas created by the decomposing waste to generate biogas. The biogas is then used to power generators producing both electricity exported to the grid and waste heat utilised in an aquaculture project.
